CTV Programming Highlights: Jan. 18 – 31
January continues to ring in the New Year with premieres and new episodes. CTV presents the highly anticipated premiere of the 11th season of fan-favourite AMERICAN IDOL, and wraps up the month with the blockbuster movie THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON.

Programming Highlights for Jan. 18 – 31 on CTV include:
• The journey begins for the search for the next singing sensation during the Part 1 premiere of AMERICAN IDOL (Jan. 18)
• Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) go on a romantic date during the 100th episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY (Jan. 19)
• Megan Mullally (WILL AND GRACE) guest stars on UP ALL NIGHT (Jan. 19)
• The auditions continue on a special broadcast of AMERICAN IDOL following the NFC Championship (Jan. 22)

Wednesday, Jan. 18
8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL –TWO-HOUR SEASON PREMIERE, Part 1
Host Ryan Seacrest and superstar judging panel Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler return for the 11th season, and travel across the country to audition the good, the bad and the outrageous for their shot at stardom. The second part of the premiere continues on CTV Two on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
10 p.m. – CSI – “Ms. Willows Regrets…” – NEW EPISODE
When Willows (Marg Helgenberger) works with the FBI after a professional hit takes place at a law firm she recommended to her friend, the CSI team identifies shocking similarities at the crime scene.
Thursday, Jan. 19
8 p.m. – THE BIG BANG THEORY – “The Recombination Hypothesis” – NEW EPISODE
Everything might change when Leonard (Johnny Galecki) offers Penny (Kaley Cuoco) a spur of the moment invitation to a romantic dinner for two, on the 100th episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY.
8:30 p.m. – UP ALL NIGHT – “Rivals” – NEW EPISODE
Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Ava (Maya Rudolph) face complications at work when rival talk-show host, Shayna (guest star Megan Mullally, WILL AND GRACE), is suspected of stealing their show ideas. At home, Regan feels jealous towards Chris’s (Will Arnett) new female friend (guest star Jennifer Hall, UNLEASHED).
9 p.m. – GREY’S ANATOMY – “Hope for the Hopeless” – NEW EPISODE
Richard (James Pickens, Jr.) performs a liver transplant for his 10,000th surgery. Meanwhile, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Lexie (Chryler Leigh) take on a case previously believed to be inoperable.
10 p.m. – THE MENTALIST – “My Bloody Valentine” – NEW EPISODE
Jane (Simon Baker) and the CBI investigate the death of a mob boss’ son with very little evidence, while Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) is haunted by the memories of O’Laughin’s (Eric Winter) shooting.
Friday, Jan. 20
9 p.m. – GRIMM – “Of Mouse and Man” – NEW EPISODE
While Nick (David Guintoli) is investigating a frightening homicide, he learns that a seemingly mild-mannered resident may be festering a potential monster created from a dark childhood. Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) receives a disturbing message from the creature community.
Saturday, Jan. 21
4 p.m. – 2012 CANADIAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS – LIVE
Men's Short and Women's Free final.
7 p.m. – 2012 CANADIAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS – LIVE
Pairs Free and Dance Free final.
Sunday, Jan. 22
3 p.m. – NFL – AFC Championship
Baltimore Ravens vs. the New England Patriots.
6:30 p.m. – NFL – NFC Championship
New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers
10 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – NEW EPISODE
The auditions continue on a special, broadcast of AMERICAN IDOL as the judges continue their quest to find the next singing superstar.
Monday, Jan. 23
10 p.m. – CASTLE – “An Embarrassment of Bitches” – NEW EPISODE
When a famous dog trainer is killed, the investigation keeps coming back to charismatic reality TV star Kay Cappuccio (guest star Hilarie Burton, WHITE COLLAR). Additional guest stars include Justin Hartley (SMALLVILLE) as Reggie Starr, Kay's boyfriend, and Nana Visitor (STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) as Dr. Patty Barker.
Tuesday, Jan. 24
8 p.m. – WHITNEY – “Codependence Day” – NEW EPISODE
Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn) hires Whitney (Whitney Cummings) as her assistant and office spy, while Mark (Dan O’Brien) gets girl problem help from Neal (Maulik Pancholy) and Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones).
8:30 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “Unseparated at Birthdates” – NEW EPISODE
When the ladies fix each other up on dates, they get more than they bargained for. Guest stars include Frank Caliendo (FRANK TV), and Richard Bergi (CHUCK).
9 p.m. – PAN AM – “New Frontiers” – NEW EPISODE – NEW DATE AND TIME
The crew heads to Rome where Dean (Mike Vogel) is confronted by local customs. Meanwhile, Laura (Margot Robbie) is shocked to discover that the Life Magazine photographer sold the nude photos of her to a gallery where they are on display. This episode airs in all CTV markets with the exception of CTV British Columbia.
Wednesday, Jan. 25
8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – NEW EPISODE
The auditions continue as singing hopefuls attempt to impress the judges and move on in the competition.
9 p.m. – CRIMINAL MINDS – “Unknown Subject” – NEW EPISODE
During the 150th episode, the BAU team searches for a serial rapist who has resurfaced and is assaulting previous victims. Prentiss (Paget Brewster) tries to come to terms with her trauma from last year and rejoins the team.
10 p.m. – CSI – “Willows in the Wind” – NEW EPISODE
Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) makes a life-changing decision to leave the CSI team. This marks Helgenberger’s last episode with the series.
Thursday, Jan. 26
8 p.m. – THE BIG BANG THEORY – “The Beta Test Initiation” – NEW EPISODE
Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) experiment with dating, while Raj (Kunal Nayyar) develops a peculiar relationship with his phone's virtual assistant.
Friday, Jan. 27
8 p.m. – SHARK TANK – NEW EPSIODE
Entrepreneurs enter the shark-infested waters with varied pitches including a cat drawing service, a program on how to become a great sales person and an innovative pick-up truck management system.
Saturday, Jan. 28
7 p.m. – W5 – NEW EPISODE
W5 investigates the risks of Canada’s unregulated cosmetic laser treatment industry.
Sunday, Jan. 29
7 p.m. – ONCE UPON A TIME – “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree” – NEW EPISODE
Sidney (Giancarlo Esposito) asks Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to help him expose the corruption that Mayor Regina (Lana Parrilla) has unleashed on Storybrooke. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, King Leopold (guest star Richard Schiff, THE WEST WING) must be careful what he asks for when he is granted three wishes from a genie.
8 p.m. – CTV MOVIE – THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON (2009) – CANADIAN TELEVISION PREMIERE
In the film THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Edward (Robert Pattinson, Water for Elephants) leaves Bella (Kristen Stewart, Snow White and the Huntsman) following an attack that almost took her life. Deep in depression, she falls into another paranormal relationship, this time with werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner, Abduction).
Tuesday, Jan. 31
8 p.m. – WHITNEY – “Mind Games” – NEW EPISODE
When Whitney (Whitney Cummings) becomes close to a male co-worker, Alex (Chris D'Elia) begins to feels a little jealous. The two notice a disconnect in their relationship and decide to go to see Dr. Grant (guest star John Cleese, A Fish Called Wanda), a couples therapist. Meanwhile, Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Neal (Maulik Pancholy) host a game night and Mark (Dan O'Brien) and Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn) realize that they make good partners.
8:30 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “Battle of the Bands” – NEW EPISODE
Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) decides to form a band with her friends and compete in a local ‘Battle of the Bands’ for her new column for Woman's Day. Joy (Jane Leeves) takes it more seriously than the others, catching the attention of band rival Rick (Wayne Knight), who convinces Joy her childhood dream of being a rock star could actually be a reality.
