Federal Agents and Married Clowns Among New Cast in Season 20 of THE AMAZING RACE, Premiering Feb. 19 on CTV

Toronto, ON (January 25, 2012) – Covering five continents and 22 cities, Canada’s most-watched competition series last fall, THE AMAZING RACE, returns with eleven new teams plunging into a whirlwind global adventure! Finishing the year as Canada's #1 reality series and #3 show overall last fall with total viewers, THE AMAZING RACE averaged 2.58 million viewers. THE AMAZING RACE premieres Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). New episodes of THE AMAZING RACE are also available on demand the day following their television broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca.

This season of the multi-Emmy Award-winning series marks the 20th sprint around the globe for THE AMAZING RACE. For this turn, teams will travel through five continents and 22 cities and cover nearly 40,000 miles. With the series making first-time visits to remote locations such as Paraguay, Azerbaijan and other exotic locations, 11 new teams set out on a race around the globe.

This year’s teams will endure one of the most competitive courses ever – from skydiving in Argentina, training with the Masai warriors in Tanzania, and racing through Africa’s “Garden of Eden,” to putting their taste buds to the test with one of Italy’s most popular cuisines and searching for King Ludwig’s quarters in the German castle that served as the inspiration for the castle in Sleeping Beauty.

Amongst the cast this season are a pair of border patrol agents, twins, dating divorcees, and last year’s winner of BIG BROTHER, Rachel Reilly, and her fiancé and fellow Houseguest, Brendon Villegas.

THE AMAZING RACE sends 11 teams on a trek around the world. Each team is comprised of two people who have a pre-existing relationship with one another. At every destination, each team competes in a series of challenges - some mental and some physical - and when the tasks have been completed, they learn their next destination. Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.
