Toronto, ON (January 31, 2012) – CTV scores a major touchdown as the hit vocal competition series THE VOICE kicks off its second season premiere on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT (approximately), immediately following SUPER BOWL XLVI on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local listings). Not only will THE VOICE coaches Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton be spectators at the biggest sporting event of the year immediately before the season premiere of their program, but Shelton and his wife, GRAMMY Award®-winner Miranda Lambert open the SUPER BOWL festivities with their performance of “America the Beautiful”. Television’s break-out hit last summer and CTV’s #1 summer series, THE VOICE settles into its regular time slot of Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT the following night, Feb. 6, leading into the premiere of the highly anticipated musical-drama SMASH at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

As last season’s top new reality program, THE VOICE returns with a new vocal arrangement as eight music industry giants join the team as advisers during the “battle rounds.” The superstar musical coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have each recruited two advisers to help mentor and prepare six separate artists, creating new “teams” including:

Team Adam (#TeamAdam #CTV):
Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke

Team Blake (#TeamBlake #CTV):
Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert

Team Cee Lo (#TeamCeeLo #CTV):
Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Ne-Yo

Team Christina (#TeamChristina #CTV):
Jewel and Lionel Richie

Joining host Carson Daly is singer and actress Christina Milian as the series new social media correspondent who will make regular appearances during the live broadcasts. Continuing to push the boundaries between broadcast and online with social media conversations, Milian engages fans and connects them to artists and coaches from “THE VOICE Social Media Room” via Facebook and Twitter. During the live shows, fans who use #TheVoice or tweet at the show, coaches’ or artists' official handles may see their tweets appear in the lower third of the screen.

THE VOICE is a fresh and innovative competition series with an inventive format that sets it apart from the rest. The series features three stages of competition, with the first stage being the much talked about “blind audition”, where the coaches choose their team based solely on voice and not on looks. The second stage is the “battle phase”, where the coaches develop their singers and pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. The final stage is the “live performance shows” where the top artists from each team compete against each other during a live broadcast. Viewers vote to save their favourite performer, leaving the coach to decide live who they want to save and who will not move on. In the end, each coach has one artist left ready to compete against the other teams’ finalists to be named THE VOICE and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

THE VOICE is a presentation of Mark Burnett's One Three Inc., Talpa Content USA, Inc., and Warner Horizon Television. The series is created by John de Mol, who executive-produces along with Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Stijn Bakkers and Lee Metzger.
