CTV Programming Highlights: March 2 – 16

Hold on to your cowboy hats! The month of March begins with scandalous new series GCB, and the new action-adventure series MISSING starring Ashley Judd. Throughout the month, new episodes continue for favourites THE VOICE, ONCE UPON A TIME, AMERICAN IDOL, SMASH, and GRIMM.

Programming Highlights for March 2 – 16 on CTV include:

• Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), who was once the high school “mean girl,” is forced to move home to Dallas after her marriage ends in scandal in GCB (March 4)
• Emma (Jennifer Morrison) looks into the disappearance of David’s wife, Kathryn (Anastasia Griffith), on ONCE UPON A TIME (March 4)
• The battle rounds begin on THE VOICE as the judges enlist industry professionals Jewel, Lionel Richie, Alanis Morissette, Robin Thicke, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Ne-Yo, Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert to help them choose which vocalists will advance to the live performance shows (March 5)
• The finalists perform live on AMERICAN IDOL in the hope of impressing the judges and winning America’s votes (March 7)
• Following an arson investigation, Nick meets a woman who is too hot to handle (guest star Danielle Panabaker, FRANKLIN & BASH) on GRIMM (March 9)
• Julia (Debra Messing) continues to make an effort to avoid Michael (Will Chase, RESCUE ME), and Ivy’s voice begins to fail her in SMASH (March 12)
• It’s a race against time as Becca Winstone travels to Europe to track down her missing son in the series premiere of MISSING (March 15)

Friday, March 2
8 p.m. – UNDERCOVER BOSS – “Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen”– NEW EPISODE
The Chief Talent Officer of Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen is frustrated with an employee’s lack of Southern hospitality behind the counter, but is brought to tears by another employee’s generosity.

9 p.m. – GRIMM – “Three Coins in a Fuchsbau”– NEW EPISODE
Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) find themselves on the hunt for rare coins after a failed jewellery store robbery results in a murder. Nick quickly learns that the coins have a disturbing effect on whoever has them in their possession, as Hank and Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) begin to demonstrate unusual behaviour. Meanwhile, an old friend of Aunt Marie’s (guest star Titus Welliver, LOST) presents Nick with information about his family and what led to his parents’ death.

10 p.m. – BLUE BLOODS – “Women with Guns” – NEW EPISODE
A close friend (Margaret Colin, GOSSIP GIRL) of Frank’s (Tom Selleck) is almost assaulted while the two are out together investigating a story, and Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jackie (Jennifer Esposito) try to hunt down the attacker. Meanwhile, Jamie’s (Will Estes) undercover case comes to a head.

Sunday, March 4
7 p.m. – ONCE UPON A TIME – “Dreamy” – NEW EPISODE
Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Leroy (guest star Lee Arenburg, GOOD LUCK CHARLIE) team up to help the Storybrooke nuns sell candles during the town’s Miner Day festival, but Leroy makes a promise to a nun that he may not be able to keep. Meanwhile, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) looks into the disappearance of David’s (Josh Dallas) wife, Kathryn (Anastasia Griffith).

8 p.m. – THE AMAZING RACE – “Bust me right in the head with it” – NEW EPISODE
For the first time ever, the race travels to Paraguay, where the teams are faced with a cruel reality if they’re not able to perfect the local balancing act.

9 p.m. – DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES – “She Needs Me” – NEW EPISODE
After Lynette (Felicity Huffman) tells Porter (Shane Kinsman) she will not help raise her future granddaughter, Susan (Teri Hatcher) lets him know she’ll set up a nursery and watch over his and Julie’s (Andrea Bowen) baby. Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) convinces Bree (Marcia Cross) to go away with him to the Maine countryside and possibly never return to Wisteria Lane.

10 p.m. – GCB – “Pilot” – SERIES PREMIERE
In the premiere episode, Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb, Iron Man), who was once the high school “mean girl,” is forced to move home after her marriage ends in a scandal following her husband’s death. Amanda turns to her mother, Gigi (Annie Potts, DESIGNING WOMEN), who wants nothing more than to give Amanda and her two teenage kids a good southern upbringing. Amanda learns that it is not easy to escape your past when re-entering this tight knit community. Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth, GLEE), who was once the ugly duckling has transformed herself, but still can’t seem to let go of old grudges. Then there’s Cricket Caruth-Reilly (Miriam Shor, DAMAGES), Sharon Peacham (Jennifer Aspen, PARTY OF FIVE) and Heather Cruz (Marisol Nichols, 24), who have all been crossed by Amanda in the past and are looking for payback.

Monday, March 5
8 p.m. – THE VOICE – “The Battles Begin” – NEW EPISODE – 2 HOURS
The battle rounds begin and the coaches enlist the help of their team advisors, music industry professionals, to help them choose the vocalists who will advance to the live shows. Christina Aguilera teams up with Jewel and Lionel Richie, Adam Levine with Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke, Cee Lo Green with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Ne-Yo, and Blake Shelton with Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert.

10 p.m. – SMASH – “Let’s Be Bad” – NEW EPISODE
Karen (Katherine McPhee) finds a new use for her acting talents as she joins Dev (Raza Jaffery) at a high-society government party. The drama between Michael (Will Chase, RESCUE ME) and Julia (Debra Messing) heats up, and Eileen (Anjelica Huston) and Tom’s (Christian Borle) go-getting assistants forge an alliance.

Tuesday, March 6
8 p.m. – WHITNEY – “The Ex Box”– NEW EPISODE
Whitney (Whitney Cummings) confronts Alex (Chris D'Elia) after she finds a box of stuff from an old girlfriend. Not satisfied with his answers, she turns to Mark (Dan O’Brien) and gets more information than she bargained for. Meanwhile, Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones) is trying to be the perfect roommate for Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn), but only seems to make things worse.

8:30 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “Arch Enemies” – NEW EPISODE
Victoria (Wendie Malick) and Joy (Jane Leeves) devise a plan to get revenge on prankster Colin Cook, Victoria’s smooth-talking nemesis and co-anchor at Chanel 7. Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) finds out that the new guy she is dating is a little too into her feet, and Elka (Betty White), has a surprising revelation upon her return from her European trip.

9 p.m. – THE RIVER – “Doctor Emmet Cole” – NEW EPISODE
The Magus crew continues their trek to the Sahte Falls where they discover clues in Emmet’s (Bruce Greenwood) camera bag leading them deeper into the Amazon. Meanwhile, Lena (Eloise Mumford) reveals a secret she’s been carrying to a fellow crew member.

Wednesday, March 7
8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – NEW EPISODE – 2 HOURS
Following the eliminations from last week, the remaining competitors take the stage to compete for America’s votes.

Thursday, March 8
8 p.m. – THE BIG BANG THEORY – “The Weekend Vortex”– NEW EPISODE

9p.m. – THE MENTALIST – “Ruddy Cheeks” – NEW EPISODE – SPECIAL TIME
The CBI team tries to narrow down the list of suspects when a terminally ill man is found dead.

Jane (Simon Baker) suspects that Agent Susan Darcy (Catherine Dent, THE SHIELD) has ulterior motives when she asks for his help with a homicide investigation. Meanwhile, the CBI team handles the murder of a young woman who was killed after meeting someone in an online chat room.

Friday, March 9
8 p.m. – UNDERCOVER BOSS – “Oriental Trading Company” – NEW EPISODE

As Erin (Bridget Moynahan) prosecutes a woman being accused of killing her husband, the defendant’s attorney is murdered and Danny (Donny Wahlberg) is assigned to the investigation. When Danny is put on the stand for questioning, things get intense between brother and sister.

Emma (Jennifer Morrison) hires Ruby (Meghan Ory) to be her assistant in the hope of helping her find the right career path. Emma also continues to question the disappearance and possible murder of Kathryn (Anastasia Griffith). Meanwhile, in the fairytale world that was, Red Riding Hood wants to run away with her true love, but is stuck when the bloodthirsty wolf causes havoc on her village.

Susan (Teri Hatcher) persuades Mike to go to the police (James Denton) when she discovers that Ben’s (Charles Mesure) con artist is out to get him. Mrs. McCluskey (Kathryn Joostan), who is suffering from terminal cancer, asks Bree (Marcia Cross) to help her end her life.

10 p.m. – GCB – “Hell Hath No Fury” – NEW EPISODE
Gigi (Annie Potts) decides to throw Amanda (Leslie Bibb) a luncheon in her honour in an effort to reintroduce her to the Dallas society. Meanwhile, a distressed Carlene (Kristin Chenoweth) gathers herself after her embarrassment in church, and conspires to get back at Amanda.

Monday, March 12
8 p.m. – THE VOICE – “The Battles, Week 2” – NEW EPISODE
The battles continue as the coaches work with their team advisors to select which vocalists will advance to the live shows.

10 p.m. – SMASH – “Chemistry” – NEW EPISODE
Ivy (Megan Hilty) faces major problems as her voice begins to fail her. Meanwhile, Julia (Debra Messing) makes an effort to avoid Michael (Will Chase, RESCUE ME), Eileen (Anjelica Huston) discovers her inner hipster at a dive bar with her new friend Ellis (Jamie Cepero), while Karen (Katherine McPhee) struggles with work as she books a side job at a bar mitzvah on Long Island.

Tuesday, March 13
8 p.m. – WHITNEY – “G-Word” – NEW EPISODE
Whitney (Whitney Cummings) and Alex (Chris D’Elia) realize they haven’t heard from Neal (Maulik Pancholy), so they decide to make a surprise visit to his apartment only to find him on a date. Whitney tries to be supportive, and has the gang over for dinner to give Neal the perfect opportunity to break the news to Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones).

8:30 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “Indecent Proposals” – NEW EPISODE
Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) is given the opportunity to write a column for Woman’s Day Magazine that asks the question, can women have sex with no strings? The women are all inspired by the topic and set out on booty calls. To their surprise, Melanie and Joy’s (Jane Leeves) plans backfire, Elka (Betty White) gets an unexpected proposal from her old friend Fred, and Victoria (Wendie Malick) gives her old fling Johnny a minor heart attack which brings them a little closer to true love.

9 p.m. – THE RIVER – “The Experiment” – NEW EPISODE
While searching through an abandoned research facility following clues that suggest Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) may still be alive, The Magus crew find themselves in a dilemma as they are stalked by a cannibalistic terror.

Wednesday, March 14
8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – NEW EPISODE
The finalists perform live hoping to impress the judges in order to win America’s votes.

10 p.m. – CSI – “Trends with Benefits” – NEW EPISODE

Thursday, March 15
8 p.m. – MISSING – “Pilot” – SERIES PREMIERE
In the series premiere, former CIA operative Becca Winstone (Ashley Judd, Double Jeopardy) learns that her son has disappeared while studying abroad. It’s a race against time as Becca travels to Europe to track him down using her resourcefulness, skills and determination, and going head-to-head with outlaws and authorities to get her son back.

9 p.m. – GREY’S ANATOMY – “One Step Too Far” – NEW EPISODE
Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is encouraged by Derek (Patrick Dempsey) to work with him again in neurology. Meanwhile, Alex (Justin Chambers) tries to deny the fact that Morgan may be falling for him, and Christina (Sandra Oh) becomes increasingly suspicious of Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) every move.

Friday, March 16
8 p.m. – SHARK TANK – NEW EPISODE
Indie-pop and singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson joins an entrepreneur from Marina del Rey, CA to pitch his high-tech music software product, and a couple from Oldsmar, FL learn the hard way they only have one chance to convince the Sharks to invest in their instant solution for cellulite-free looking skin.
