OTTAWA (February 11, 2013) – For Bell Let’s Talk Day on Tuesday, Feb. 12, CTV Ottawa offers a special broadcast of the CTV NEWS AT SIX, including an abbreviated newscast followed by an in-studio Town Hall. Anchors Carol Anne Meehan and Graham Richardson talk with people living with mental illness and their family members who support them, as well as experts and studio-audience participants. With special guests including Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson, together they address youth issues, suicide prevention, erasing the stigma, and advice on where one can get help.
“As all Bell Media platforms across the country focus on mental health issues in support of Let’s Talk Day, CTV Ottawa joins the conversation with this Town Hall discussion,” said Peter Angione, News Director, CTV Ottawa. “By bringing our anchors, experts, and organizations together, we aim to help bring mental illness out of the shadows.”
Alfredsson shares his experience with mental illness within his own family, while representatives from the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, Ottawa Public Health, CHEO, Youth Services Bureau, the Orleans Bengals Football Club, and Bell join the conversation as well. Viewers are invited to Tweet during the event using #BellLetsTalk.
