CTV Programming Highlights: June 14–30

Programming Highlights for June 14-30 on CTV include:

• Viewers get a front row seat to daredevil Nik Wallenda’s courageous attempt to tightrope across Niagara Falls in the two-hour CTV Special, MEGASTUNTS: HIGHWIRE OVER NIAGARA FALLS – LIVE, and in advance of the special viewers can take a look back at some of the greatest stunts of all time in the hour-long special COUNTDOWN TO NIAGARA: THE GREATEST MEGASTUNTS OF ALL TIME (June 15)
• In the series premiere of THE GLASS HOUSE (June 18), fourteen contestants compete for a $250,000 cash prize, all at the mercy and direction of their fans.
• The nine-month, cross-Canada relay ends with a bang in Vancouver in the exclusive broadcast premiere of RICK HANSEN: A CONCERT FOR HEROES (June 24)
• The top 20 dancers are revealed on the 200th episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (June 27)

Thursday, June 14
9 p.m. – SAVING HOPE – “Contact” – NEW EPISODE
Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) treats a young boy with mysterious symptoms while dealing with the arrival of Charlie’s (Michael Shanks) ex-wife. Elsewhere in the hospital, Joel (Daniel Gillies) and Maggie (Julia Taylor Ross) try to help a patient who refuses life-saving treatment on religious grounds. Plus, Dr. Dana Kinney (Wendy Crewson) scrubs in as interim Chief of Surgery and challenges Alex on her ability to be a doctor.

Friday June 15
8 p.m. – COUNTDOWN TO NIAGARA: THE GREATEST MEGASTUNTS OF ALL TIME – NEW SPECIAL
In advance of daredevil Nik Wallenda’s daring attempt to walk a tightrope across the raging waters of Niagara Falls, viewers can take a look back at some of the greatest stunts of all time in this hour-long special.

9 p.m. – MEGASTUNTS: HIGHWIRE OVER NIAGARA FALLS – LIVE! – NEW 2 HOUR SPECIAL
After years of preparation, daredevil Nik Wallenda is set to walk approximately 1,550 feet of tightrope wire, suspended 173 feet above the raging waters of Niagara Falls, from the U.S. to Canada. An unprecedented feat that has been banned for over 125 years, Canadians can follow along with Wallenda’s every breath-taking step, in the extraordinary live two-hour special MEGASTUNTS: HIGHWIRE OVER NIAGARA FALLS – LIVE!.

Saturday, June 16
7p.m. – CTV MOVIE – TURN THE BEAT AROUND (2010)
Featuring stunning dance sequences that combine cutting edge hip-hop dance moves with stylized classic disco, the Gemini Award nominated film TURN THE BEAT AROUND follows dancer Zoe Benjamin (Romina D’Ugo, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA) as she strives to make it in the cutthroat L.A. dance scene.

10 p.m. – COMEDY NOW! – “Paul Haywood” – NEW EPISODE
Comedian Paul Haywood talks about being married to a ninja, his wedding in Cuba, basement apartment living and a Newfoundland delicacy.

10:30 p.m. – COMEDY NOW! – “Glen Foster” – NEW EPISODE
Comedian Glen Foster covers everything from having the adult version of A.D.D., the government’s website, to cell phone apps for terrorists.

Sunday, June 17
7 p.m. – THE LISTENER – “Curtain Call” – ENCORE EPISODE
After a member of a superstar performer’s crew is electrocuted by a microphone, Toby (Craig Olejnik) finds himself amidst the entourage of Jade (JUNO Award-nominee Fefe Dobson), one of pop music’s most popular and innovative performers. When Sgt. McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) and Dev (Rainbow Sun Francks) ascertain the tampered equipment was intended for Jade, the team must act quickly to ensure no further tragedies.

9 p.m. – SAVING HOPE – “Contact” – ENCORE EPISODE

Monday, June 18
9 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “Top 16 Compete” – NEW EPISODE
The remaining 16 contestants visit military base Camp Pendleton, California where they will work in teams to prepare a healthy and balanced meal for 200 servicemen and women. After Gordon Ramsay (RAMSAY’S KITCHEN NIGHTMARES), restaurateur Joe Bastianich, and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot put the contestants through culinary boot camp, they must return to the MASTERCHEF kitchen for an intense elimination round.

10 p.m. – THE GLASS HOUSE – SERIES PREMIERE
THE GLASS HOUSE is an exciting and interactive reality competition series where viewers are in charge of the game. In a competition for $250,000, 14 contestants live and compete in a state-of-the-art house battling against each other, both online and through their social networks to win over viewers. Their votes help to determine who is eliminated and who will earn the chance to return to the “glass house.”

Tuesday, June 19
8 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “Beards” – NEW EPISODE
Victoria (Wendie Malick, FRASIER) is invited to speak on an A-list gay cruise and brings Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli, BOSTON LEGAL), Joy (Jane Leeves, FRASIER) and Elka (Betty White, THE GOLDEN GIRLS) with her. On the cruise, she runs into her estranged sister while Joy and Victoria, posing as a couple, face temptation upon meeting the ships sexy captain.

8:30 p.m. – BENT – “Smitten” – NEW EPISODE
Fed up with her lack of a love life, Alex (Amanda Peet) devises a way to take her relationship with her boyfriend Ben (Matt Letscher, ENTOURAGE) to the next level. Meanwhile, in spite of his feelings for Alex, Pete (David Walton) rekindles his romance with ex-girlfriend Natalie (Diora Baird, Wedding Crashers).

9 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “Top 15 Compete” – NEW EPISODE
Guts are tested as the remaining 15 contestants are challenged to create a unique dish using unconventional and unappetizing cuts of meat.

10 p.m. – LOVE IN THE WILD – NEW EPISODE
The newly formed trios are shackled together to endure a rigorous challenge through the jungle and into a smouldering bat cave. The winning trio enjoy a romantic sailboat cruise, while the emotional couple’s choice ceremony brings surprise rejections and sends six women home without finding love.

Wednesday, June 20
8 p.m. – SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE – NEW EPISODE – 2 HOURS
The auditions head to Las Vegas for call-backs where judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and a guest judge are greeted by dancers skilled in everything from ballroom to ballet, salsa to jazz, hip hop and even krumping. The dancers perform in the hopes of receiving a ticket to the finals in Las Vegas.

10 p.m. – THE LISTENER – “The Taking” – NEW EPISODE
Toby (Craig Olejnik) and Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) investigate the abduction of an African teenager whose bodyguard, Kwesi (Toronto native K.C. Collins, A Day in the Life), was shot during an altercation. The case is nuanced and far-reaching because the victim, Ibrahim Ayim (Stephan James, THE L.A. COMPLEX), is the son of Abassi Ayim (Eugene Clark, former Toronto Argonauts offensive lineman), a deposed Liberian politician accused of defrauding his country of millions and committing a slew of atrocities. When the kidnappers send Ibrahim’s severed finger to prove the temerity of their ten million-dollar ransom demand, Michelle puts the pressure on Toby to make sense of the barrage of violent images he’s seeing.

Thursday, June 21
9 p.m. – SAVING HOPE – “Blindness” – NEW EPISODE
Alex (Erica Durance) is riding high after her comatose fiancé Charlie’s (Michael Shanks) hand moved. She’s convinced he’s coming back and she begins to consider taking time off to spend with her recovering fiancé. Then, a roof collapse brings two brothers into the ER in critical condition – one of them beyond saving. The surviving brother’s leg has been crushed and if there’s any hope of him regaining function, Joel (Daniel Gillies) must perform a rare surgery that flies in the face of Dr. Dana Kinney’s (Wendy Crewson) policy to avoid high-risk and litigation at all costs.

Saturday, June 23
7 p.m. – CTV ORIGINAL MOVIE – SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY (2007)
In the Gemini Award-winning film SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY, two estranged sisters (Melinda Clarke, NIKITA and Krista Bridges, DURHAM COUNTY) go on a road trip that leads them to a place they never believed possible.

10 p.m. – COMEDY NOW! – “Charlie Demers” – NEW EPISODE
Vancouver comedian Charlie Demers describes the perfect tattoo, and talks about his interracial marriage, and bootleg DVDs.

10:30 p.m. – COMEDY NOW! – “Peter White” – NEW EPISODE
Comedian Peter White talks about being hit on by a guy, finding your soul-mate, beautiful vs. ugly people and the mythological creature that inhabits northern Alberta.

Sunday, June 24
7 p.m. – RICK HANSEN: A CONCERT FOR HEROES – CTV SPECIAL
Twenty-five years after the Man In Motion toured the world, CTV joins the Rick Hansen Foundation in honouring today’s “Difference Makers” during the exclusive broadcast premiere of RICK HANSEN: A CONCERT FOR HEROES. Hosted by TSN’s Michael Landsberg and E! Canada’s Leah Miller, the one-hour broadcast event features performances by multiple award-winning Canadian artists David Foster, Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, Marianas Trench, and Johnny Reid. Also appearing in the anniversary celebration are celebrity presenters including noted environmentalist David Suzuki and Free The Children founder Craig Kielburger.

Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) looses her favourite dress, so Elka (Betty White) takes them funeral crashing to help track it down. Meanwhile, Joy (Jane Leeves) and Victoria (Wendie Malick) are forced to face their pasts and Elka is reunited with someone who might be part of her future

8:30 p.m. – BENT – “HD” – NEW EPISODE
When Pete (David Walton) and the crew spot Ben (Matt Letscher) in a precarious situation with another woman, Pete is determined to expose Ben's transgression to Alex (Amanda Peet). Meanwhile, Walt (Jeffrey Tambor) and Screwsie (Margo Harshman) help Charlie (Joey King) get back at a school bully.

Wednesday, June 27
8 p.m. – SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE – NEW EPISODE – 2 HOURS – 200TH EPISODE
In the 200th episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE the Top 20 dancers are revealed and will compete to become America’s favourite dancer.

10 p.m. – THE LISTENER – “Rogues’ Gallery” – NEW EPISODE
At a swanky hotel bar, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) intercepts Luke “Manny” Manson (Chad Faust, THE 4400), a renowned art thief she’s been pursing for years. His return to Toronto can only mean he’s involved in an upcoming heist and she plans to use his capture to the IIB’s advantage – to smash a huge international theft ring. With Klein’s (Peter Stebbings) consent and Dev’s (Rainbow Sun Francks) assistance, Michelle goes undercover as a security specialist for Manny’s crew. But since it’s a dangerous undertaking, and she won’t be wearing a wire, she enlists Toby’s (Craig Olejnik) telepathy for protection.

Thursday, June 28
9 p.m. – SAVING HOPE – “The Fight”– NEW EPISODE
After finding out that Charlie’s (Michael Shanks) condition hasn’t improved, Alex (Erica Durance) is growing concerned about her fiancé’s chances of recovery. Her worries are exacerbated when she detects a crackling in Charlie’s chest. To keep her mind active, an already exhausted Alex takes an overnight shift in the ER. Hoping for a peaceful night, the ER instead turns into a hotbed of activity when a hockey superstar comes in with injured ribs from a street fight.
